Yamaha YD series 5 piece drum set
Shells
Using Yamaha's unique air-seal system ensures that every shell is perfectly round and uniform in size while providing excellent response and clear tone. Each shell is made of 9 plies of Philippine Mahogany. Shell exteriors are covered with a PVC sheet that adds beauty and durability to the shell. All shells can be purchased separately with a wider variety of tom sizes available so you can choose according to your needs.
Both the 22" and 20" bass drums are 17" deep to deliver greater low end and a thicker sound. All YD sets include a matching 14" x 5.5" wood snare drum.
Wood Hoops
Almost unheard of in the price range, the YD series is equipped with wood hoops that provide improved tone and enhance the look of the drum. The YD hoops are even detailed with matched colored inlays.
Separate Lugs
The separate lugs were designed with the drums overall sound in mind. The springless design utilizes a structure that effectively eliminates unwanted noise.
Bass Drum Spurs
Professional brackets and legs are attached at an optimum angle to prevent movement during play and fold up and out of the way for transport. Height adjustment is quick and easily accomplished with a drum key. The rubber feet readily slide into position making selection between spike and rubber feet as smooth as possible.
Professional Tom Holder
YD sets include Yamaha's original ball-mount clamp that has been providing drummers stable support for over twenty years. Consisting of a hard resin ball held firmly in place by a steel plate and large wing bolt, the system offers a secure setting and quick adjustment allows the drums to be positioned at any angle. Also, the new tom holder incorporates two clamps with nylon bushings and large wing bolts to provide quick and secure placement, just like hardware found on our hi-end drums.
Professional Snare Drum Strainer
The same professional strainer that is found on many of Yamaha's hi-end snare drums provides smooth and quiet action on the YD snare drum. The single-side adjustment maintains snare tension under the most stringent playing conditions.
Hardware
Manufactured in Yamaha's own motorcycle factory, the YD hardware is made to the same specifications as our hi-end quality hardware. Light in weight, this high quality, durable hardware stands up to rigorous play. Hardware with each set includes:

SS-640 snare stand
FP-700 Foot pedal
TH-850 Double tom holder
Includes Cymbals
For the same low price, the YD sets now include (1) 20" ride cymbal and (1) pair of 14" hi-hat cymbals. These cymbals, manufactured in the USA, are a perfect completion to the YD series.
